Basimatsi

Brand Identity, Packaging Design

“From the fields of Lakampati and Mapulon, meticulousy crafted using the finest selection of herbs and spices. Then fermented until full of exquisite flavor which will enhance the taste of any dish, satisfying the sophisticated palates of every gourmand. Created to satiate the edacious with the authentic flavours of Philippine sauces.”

Basimatsi is a line of spiced vinegar from the Philippines. Its name is derived from its main ingredients: BAwang (Garlic), SIbuyas (Onion), kaMATis (Tomato), and SIli (Chili).

Inspired by the folklore of the archipelago, we focused on the handcrafted rustic nature of the brand. Almost as if one might stumble upon it in a 17th-century market. Our reimagined illustration of Lakampati and Mapulon, simplified yet deeply rooted in native aesthetics, serves as a visual homage to a bygone era.

Built for future variants. We introduced a holding device to house the Basimatsi wordmark. Each color signifies a unique flavor, creating a visual symphony that resonates with the diverse tastes the brand has to offer.
